See the Difference Caring Makes.

Nilsen Eye Care (NEC) was established by Dr. Eric Nilsen in 1998 in suburban Chesterfield County. Two years later, his wife, Dr. Alexandra Nilsen, came on board. The practice continued to grow with the addition of Dr. Craig Perry, Dr. Anthony Stacy and Dr. Madeline Junker Kellerman. In 2021, NEC united with Powhatan Family Eye. Dr. Tonya Carter and Dr. Kristen Jarrell became part of the Nilsen Eye Care team and the office was renamed Nilsen Eye Care West.

Eye health plays an important role in your body’s overall health, so our practice focuses on medical preventive eye care. Whether your vision is 20/20 or you need corrective lenses, make an annual eye exam part of your regular healthcare routine.

The entire team at NEC is committed to excellence in customer service, with features including:

  • Two locations to serve you—North Courthouse Road in Chesterfield County and Anderson Highway in Powhatan
  • Convenient appointment times including Saturday and evening hours at our North Courthouse Road location
  • No waiting and no paperwork—thanks to our efficient, patient-centric intake process
  • State-of-the-art technology for diagnosis and treatment of ocular conditions as well as detection of medical issues that can cause blindness, such as diabetes and high blood pressure
  • A large selection of stylish frames from Ray-Ban and Nike to Kate Spade and Pro design
  • Same-day single-vision glasses for most prescriptions at our North Courthouse Road office
  • Many medical insurances accepted

Every member of the NEC team shares the same philosophy—of putting the whole health of our patients first!

Making a Difference in Our Community

Our latest community project involved raising money and collecting food for our Nilsen Food Drive in November. We are happy to report the drive was an incredible success! Thanks to everyone who contributed, we delivered just under 600 pounds of food and a $570 donation to FeedMore. We appreciate everyone’s support and look forward to more opportunities to get involved with our community!
